Studio Policy

Guidelines and expectations for a successful musical journey

Welcome to Ema Lale Music Studio

These policies are designed to create a positive, productive learning environment for all students. Please review them carefully and feel free to ask any questions.

Lesson Scheduling & Attendance

Regular Schedule

  • Lessons are scheduled on a weekly basis at the same time each week
  • Lesson lengths: 30 minutes (children), 45 minutes (teens), 60 minutes (adults)
  • Please arrive 5 minutes early to allow for smooth transitions

Cancellation Policy

  • 24-hour notice required for lesson cancellations
  • Lessons cancelled with less than 24-hour notice will be charged at full rate
  • Emergency cancellations will be handled on a case-by-case basis
  • Make-up lessons may be available but are not guaranteed

Payment & Fees

Payment Schedule

  • Monthly payments are due by the 1st of each month
  • Payment methods: Cash, check, or electronic transfer
  • Late payments may incur a $10 late fee

Pricing Information

Lesson rates vary based on duration, format (in-person or online), and student level. Please contact me directly to discuss pricing options that work best for your musical goals and budget.

Practice & Preparation

Practice Requirements

  • Regular practice is essential for progress and enjoyment
  • Recommended practice time: 5-6 days per week
  • Children: 15-30 minutes daily
  • Teens: 30-45 minutes daily
  • Adults: 30-60 minutes daily (as schedule allows)

Materials & Equipment

  • Students must bring all assigned music and materials to each lesson
  • Piano students need access to a well-maintained instrument for practice
  • Music books and materials are the responsibility of the student
  • I can provide recommendations for instrument purchases or rentals

Studio Environment & Conduct

Studio Rules

  • Please remove shoes upon entering the studio
  • Turn off or silence all electronic devices during lessons
  • Respect the instruments and studio equipment
  • Parents and siblings are welcome to observe lessons quietly

Health & Safety

  • Please stay home if you are feeling unwell
  • Wash hands before touching instruments
  • I maintain a clean, sanitized studio environment
  • Emergency contact information must be kept current

Performance Opportunities

Recitals & Events

  • Annual spring and winter recitals for all students
  • Informal studio gatherings and masterclasses
  • RCM examination preparation and support
  • Community performance opportunities when available

Note: Participation in recitals and performances is encouraged but not required. All students are welcome to participate at their comfort level.

Staying Connected

  • I'm available via email for questions and concerns
  • Please communicate any scheduling conflicts as soon as possible
  • I welcome feedback about lessons and teaching methods
  • Regular progress updates will be provided to parents of minor students
